Here is one of the first things I do:
1. Get hosting. I use
2. Register a domain. I use
3. Set up a blog… you have a couple of ways to go with this…
A. Set it up yourself using FTP and cpanel
B. Use a blog installation service
C. Or you can sign up for your GVO account through my
link above and I will personally set up the blog for you.
4. Create a twitter account specifically for the blog I just created. This
is especially good if your blog is a niche type website.
5. Create a StumbleUpon account for your blog:
6. Connect your blog to your Twitter account, using the Twitter
Tools plugin for your blog. This allows you to tweet your blog
posts, and create blog posts from your daily tweets.
7. Add another plugin for your blog called Twitter Tools: SU.PR link
to help you with link shortening. The great thing about su.pr
linking is that at any time, people can stumble upon your blog
posts! You will need to be logged in to StumbleUpon when you
sign in to:
http://su.pr
8. Begin interacting with others in your niche on Twitter and other
social networks. This interaction will create content for your blog.
9. Sign up for affiliate programs that allow you to use their RSS feeds
for your blog. You can use the Free Traffic Plugin from Jeff Johnson
to help you set up the right RSS feed reader for Wordpress:

When Your Traffic Is A Little Light
Posted by: | CommentsAre you writing enough content? When you are finding that not enough people are visiting you, it is usually a lack of new spider food that is keeping the new visitors from coming to your website.
When the search engine spiders are feeding regularly, your website will be showing up in the search results for searches that have something to do with your content. Spiders are picky, they like their content to be as fresh as possible. When you put something up and you do not update very often, the spiders might show up initially, but they forget all about your site as they munch on the fresh stuff out there! The more new goodies they can sink their little fangs into, the less they will even think about your website.
That is why you should have some tools on your website to help you get even more fresh content. Wordpress is of course the best way to keep the spiders happily crawling up and down your website. But if you do not use the right plugins, you are giving the spiders only substandard feedings, and they may abandon your site when someone rings the dinnerbell for them with some better content. So you should make it fresh, and frequent. In those times when you don’t have a lot of time to write, the following plugins will really help you explode your content and give the spiders a lot of fresh food without taking as much of your time!

Jeff Johnson has a team of programmers who make it so simple to make your blog search engine spider attractive. Even the free version is totally amazing, but the professional version will knock you over when you see what it does FOR you. Here is the link to get the free traffic plugin.
